30 Jul The Best Pavilion Award at Malta Biennale 2026
We are proud to share that “Redefining. Polish-Ghanaian Textile Narratives,” the pavilion organised by the OmenaArt Foundation at the Malta Biennale 2026, has been named Best Pavilion at this year’s Maltese Falcon Awards.
The award was announced during a ceremony held at the Oratory, St John’s Co-Cathedral in Valletta, where an international panel of judges revealed the winners across the Biennale’s award categories. The panel included curator and critic Gerardo Mosquera, visual artist Monica Narula, and curator and lecturer Irene Biolchini.
Curated by Natalia Bradbury and featuring the work of Eliza Proszczuk, Ernestina Mansa Doku, and Marta Nadolle, the pavilion presented a large-scale textile installation created through collaboration between Polish and Ghanaian artists. Rooted in the Biennale’s 2026 theme, the work brought to light a lesser-known history of solidarity between Poland and Ghana, reimagining it as a vision of shared future cooperation.
“Our exhibition is a tribute, a symbolic homage to the beautiful relationship that existed between Poland and Ghana in the 60s. It was in line with the Ubuntu philosophy that speaks of solidarity and community: ‘I am because we are’. In the exhibition, we ask ourselves whether we can build a new, better world based on these values.”
